According to the Internet source given below, John Walter Bratton was an American songwriter born in Wilmington, Delaware who achieved success during the 1890's together with the lyricist, Walter H. Ford. Their big hits included I Love You In The Same Old Way (1896) and Darling Sue. His instrumental piece The Teddy Bear's Picnic (1907) was also very popular and enjoyed a revival after lyrics for it were written in 1939 by Ethyl Wood. Of ragtime interest is his The Jungle Jubilee (1910), a rag novelty. Bratton died in 1947 in Brooklyn, NY.
