Julia Lee Niebergall was an American pianist and composer of popular born in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a pianist she accompanied silent movies and also played for college and high school gymnastic classes. When at the keyboard, she could improvise unfamiliar melodies. Closely associated with her hometown publisher, J. H. Aufderheide, she is thought to have transcribed May Aufderheide 's compositions as Miss Aufderheide apparently played and composed by ear. Miss Niebergall is reported to have been one of the first women in Indianapolis to own her own car. She also owned her own home and lived there until her death in 1968.
