According to the Internet source given below, Makoto Shinohara is a Japanese composer born in Osaka. He studied composition with Ikenouchi at the Tokyo Arts University, musical aesthetics with Messiaen at the Paris Conservatory, electronic music with Koenig at the Cologne Music Hochschule and composition with Stockhausen at the Cologne Conservatory, amongst others. He lived and worked mostly lived abroad, in France, West Germany, Italy, USA, Canada and the Netherlands.
In the recorder world, he is especially known for his work Fragmente which was commissioned by Prince Bernhard Fonds (Netherlands) and has been performed and recorded by leading recorder artists such as Frans Brüggen, Michala Petri, Clas Pehrsson, Walter van Hauwe and Hans Maria Kneihs.
