A Georgia Barn Dance is another fine Mills bright and cheerful "whistling" composition. Its form is AABBACCBB with a 4-bar introduction and an 8-bar interlude before each of the final B-strains. An all tenor/bass affair, a careful balance between the voices needs to be obtained. A splendid ensemble piece - the 1st tenor has the cheeky A-strain and is joined by the other tenors for the remainder. The 4th tenor whilst almost being continually occupied playing C's on the offbeat has to keep a sharp lookout for occasional excursions to other notes. The basses have their fun in the interludes where a witty dialogue takes place - yes pure fun indeed!
A tempo of 144 crotchets/min. is suggested.
A Georgia Barn Dance was published by F.A. Mills New York.
