Length: approx. 4 mins. Sounds best if the bass is doubled.
Sicilian Chimes is a Mills contribution to that sentimental "chiming" genre of popular music so beloved during the ragtime era. Is a very pleasant reverie (an instrumental piece suggesting a dreamy or musing state in AABCDDA form. Heavily ornamented with several nice touches, meticulous co-ordination between the descant and treble voices is a must to achieve the chiming effect. The treble has the enjoyable task of providing the ornamentation practically from beginning to end making a very long 4 minutes!
A tempo of 120 crotchets/min. is suggested.
Sicilian Chimes was published by F.A. Mills New York.
