Flanders Recorder Quartet

I had the good fortune to see and hear the Flanders Recorder Quartet on 12th September 2000, when the visited Bremen, Germany for a concert in Unser Lieben Frauen Kirche. The very ably demonstrated "The Art of the Fugue" over 5 centuries with works from Heinrich Isaac , Antonio de Cabezón , Tarquinio Merula , Johann Sebastian Bach , Dario Castello , Girolamo Frescobaldi and, to represent the previous century, Piet Swerts .
The Flanders Recorder Quartet was grounded in 1987 and has found its place as a leading recorder group in the renaissance music scene. The ensemble with Joris van Geothem, Han Tol, Bart Spanhove and Paul van Loey has won important prizes and have appeared at many well-know festivals such as the Flanders Festival, the Tagen alter Musik in Regensburg and the Ljubliana. In 1996 they toured with Reinhard Goebel the Musica Antiqua Cologne.
