I found this song in 80 English Folk Songs collected by Cecil Sharp & Maud Karpeles as mentioned above in The Cruel Mother and really love it.
It's a way out kind of murder mystery, a tale of blood, banishment to a foreign land and of never returning.
Unfortunately the tune and style is also way, way out for the average modern listener and finds little favour even in my circle of friends.
