I remember this song being sung by Burl Ives as a child in the 1940's and 1950's. It wasn't until I turned solo however that I finally learned it from one of Wilfried Drygala's songbooks and took into my repertoire. I find the song to be great fun for children, even child-like adults can equally enjoy it. (especially the uh, uh bits).
