I first heard "The Parting Glass" on a Clancy Brothers record in the early 1960's but didn't transcribe it until 1992 when I wanted the song for a private ceilidh. The Clancy version has only two verses, a found a third verse in Colm O Lochlainn's Irish Street Ballads. It's one of a trio of songs which I always use to finish a ceilidh, the other two being Auld lang syne, Scottish, and Come me Lads (Let union be), English.
