 The True Lovers

"The True Lovers" is another of those 19th century songs about lovers having to part to go off to the wars on this planet somewhere or other. Such examples include High Germany, North Americay and The Banks of the Nile. The interesting and main difference is that in this song, the pregnant young lady is prepared to fight at her lover's side in "France, Spain and Bonny Ireland" (sic) and her lover agrees! This is surely taking emancipation and women's rights too far!
I received this song as a photocopy from Wilfried Drygala (he never sang it himself) and sing it only very rarely.
