I'd first heard "The wild colonial boy" in childhood but only began to appreciate the song on hearing Rolf Harris singing it in the early sixties. At the behest of Steve Kelly, mentioned in the introduction above, it was to be sung on Australia Day in the "Pinökel" in 1994. I therefore learned the version given in The Bushwackers Australian Song Book which has a fine chorus. I much prefer this version to others as generally in Britain this song is sung without a chorus.
